Named after Joseph Lade Pawsey - Australian radio astronomer (1908-1962).
Pawsey is a worn impact crater that lies next to the northern outer ramparts of the crater Wiener, on the far side. To the east-northeast is the large crater Campbell, and farther to the west is Bridgman. This crater is partly overlain by the ejecta from the younger Wiener impact, leaving an uneven formation with edges that have been blanketed by material. There is a small crater along the western rim, and another small, cup-shaped crater along the northeastern edge. (wikipedia entry)
A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
