Montes Haemus (Moon)

Named for range in the Balkans.

Montes Haemus is a curving range of mountains that forms the southwestern edge of the Mare Serenitatis basin. The eastern edge terminates with the Promontorium Archerusia, to the northwest of the crater Plinius. This end reaches a gap where the Mare Serenitatis to the north joins the Mare Tranquillitatis to the south. (wikipedia entry)

A mons is a mountain. On the Moon they are named after terrestrial mountain ranges, nearby craters, and deceased scientists who have made outstanding or fundamental contributions to their fields.
