Mons Penck (Moon)

Named after Albrecht Penck - German geographer (1858-1945).

Mons Penck is a mountain promontory on the near side. It lies just to the northeast of the crater Kant, to the north of Ibn-Rushd and the Rupes Altai scarp. Southeast are the prominent craters Theophilus and Cyrillus. (wikipedia entry)

A mons is a mountain. On the Moon they are named after terrestrial mountain ranges, nearby craters, and deceased scientists who have made outstanding or fundamental contributions to their fields.
