Khvol'son (Moon)

Named after Orest Danilovich Khvol'son - Soviet physicist (1852-1934).

Khvol'son is a crater on the far side. It lies just to the east-southeast of the large walled plain Pasteur. Less than a crater diameter to the north-northeast is the crater Meitner, and just to the east-southeast lies Kondratyuk. This crater has a roughly circular outer rim that is not overlaid by any impacts of significance. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
