Hill (Moon)

Named after George William Hill - American astronomer, mathematician (1838-1914).

Hill is a small lunar impact crater that is located to the west of the prominent crater Macrobius, near the eastern edge of the Sinus Amoris. This crater was previously designated Macrobius B before being given a name by the IAU. It lies just to the north-northeast of Carmichael, another renamed satellite crater of Macrobius. This is a circular, bowl-shaped crater with an inner wall that has a high albedo compared to the surrounding terrain. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
