Esclangon (Moon)

Named after Ernest Benjamin Esclangon - French astronomer (1876-1954).

Esclangon is a lunar crater that is located in the rugged terrain to the northwest of the prominent crater Macrobius, and east of Sinus Amoris. Just to the west-southwest is the crater Hill. Lacus Bonitatis, the Lake of Good, is located to the east and northeast. The interior of this crater has been flooded, leaving only a low rim above the surface. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
