Garavito (Moon)

Named after Julio Garavito Armero - Colombian astronomer (1865-1920).

Garavito is a lunar crater that is located in the southern hemisphere. It lies to the north-northwest of the huge walled plain Poincaré, and to the west of the crater Chrétien. It takes its name in honor of the Colombian astronomer and engineer Julio Garavito Armero. This crater has a worn and eroded outer rim, particularly along the west and southern edges. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
