Fowler (Moon)

Named after Alfred Fowler - British astronomer (1868-1940) and Ralph Howard Fowler - British mathematician; physicist (1889-1944).

Fowler is a large lunar crater that lies in the northern hemisphere. It lies to the south-southwest of the crater Esnault-Pelterie, and north of Gadomski. Overlying the eastern rim and intruding into the interior is Von Zeipel. The outer rim of this crater has become worn and rounded by impact erosion until it has become little more than an irregular slope down to the interior depression. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
