Eijkman (Moon)

Named after Christiaan Eijkman - Dutch doctor; Nobel laureate (1858-1930).

Eijkman is a lunar impact crater on the far side 's southern hemisphere. It lies about a half crater diameter to the southeast of the larger crater Lemaître. To the south-southwest is the crater Crommelin, and to the northeast is Fizeau. The rim of this crater is well-defined and has not been significantly worn down by impacts. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
