Conon (Moon)

Named after Conon of Samos - Greek astronomer (c. 260 B.C.).

Conon is a small but prominent lunar impact crater that lies in the eastern foothills of the Montes Apenninus mountain range. Just to the west is the long mountainous ridge Mons Bradley. The nearest craters possessing an eponym are Galen, about 70 kilometres to the east, and Aratus, about the same distance to the northeast. The edge 's rim is sharply defined and has not received significant erosion from later impacts. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
