Bürg (Moon)

Named after Johann Tobias Bürg - Austrian astronomer (1766-1834).

Bürg or Burg is a prominent lunar impact crater in the northeast part. To the south and southeast is the crater pair Plana and Mason. To the west, beyond the rim of Lacus Mortis, is the prominent crater Eudoxus. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
