Bergstrand (Moon)

Named after Carl Östen Emanuel Bergstrand - Swedish astronomer (1873-1948).

Bergstrand is a lunar impact crater that lies on the far side. It is located just to the southeast of the prominent crater Aitken, and northeast of the walled plain Vertregt. The rim is roughly circular, except along the southwest where the larger satellite crater Bergstrand Q intrudes into the outer wall. The outer wall is otherwise only marginally worn, with one small craterlet overlaying the southern rim. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
