Beketov (Moon)

Named after Nikolai Nikolaevich Beketov - Russian chemist (1827-1911).

Beketov is a small lunar crater that lies in the northern reaches of the Mare Tranquillitatis. Beketov was previously designated Jansen C before being named by the IAU. The flooded crater Jansen itself lies to the south. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
