Tooting (Mars)

Named after the Town in England.

Tooting is a multi-layered fluidized ejecta crater due west of the volcano Olympus Mons, on Mars. . It was identified by planetary geologist Peter Mouginis-Mark in September 2004. Scientists estimate that its age is on the order of hundreds of thousands of years, which is young for a Martian crater. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On Mars large craters are named after deceased scientists, writers and others who have contributed to the lore of Mars. Small creaters (less than 60km) are named after small towns and villages.
