Amazonis Planitia (Mars)

Classical albedo feature name; home of the Amazons; "Land of the Amazon", legendary warrior women

Amazonis Planitia is one of the smoothest plains on Mars. The plain's topography exhibits extremely smooth features at several different lengths of scale. A large part of the Medusae Fossae Formation lies in Amazonis Planitia. (wikipedia entry)

A planitia is a low plain. On Mars they are named after the nearest named albedo feature on the Schiaparelli or Antoniadi maps.
