Stevinus (Moon)

Named after Stevin, Simon Stevinus - Belgian mathematician, physicist (1548-1620).

Stevinus is a lunar impact crater located in the southeast part. To the southeast is the large crater Furnerius. Just to the northeast is Snellius and the Vallis Snellius crater valley. To the west-northwest lies Reichenbach. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
