Azophi (Moon)

Named after Al-Sufi, Abderrahman Azophi - Persian astronomer (903-986).

Azophi is a lunar impact crater that lies in the rugged south-central highlands. The northwest rim is attached to the slightly smaller crater Abenezra. To the east-southeast is the large and irregular Sacrobosco. The wide outer rim has a somewhat polygonal shape with rounded corners. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
