Purbach (Moon)

Named after Georg von Purbach - Austrian mathematician, astronomer (1423-1461).

Purbach is a large lunar crater located in the rugged southern highlands. The distorted crater Regiomontanus is attached to the southern rim. To the northwest is Thebit and just to the northeast lies La Caille. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
