Nöggerath (Moon)

Named after Johann Jakob Nöggerath - German geologist, mineralogist, seismologist (1788-1877).

Nöggerath is a small lunar impact crater in the southwest section. Nöggerath is a unremarkable crater, with a smooth floor and a rim that is only slightly eroded and impacted at the southern edge. Nöggerath lies north of the Schiller-Zucchius Basin. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
