Neujmin (Moon)

Named after Grigorij Nikolaevich Neujmin - Soviet astronomer (1885-1946).

Neujmin is a lunar crater. It is nearly attached to the west-southwest of the smaller crater Waterman, and lies to the southwest of the prominent Tsiolkovskiy. This is an eroded crater formation that has been somewhat deformed by subsequent impacts. The circular crater Neujmin P lies across the southwestern rim. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
