Neander (Moon)

Named after Neumann, Michael Neander - German mathematician (1529-1581).

Neander is a lunar impact crater that is located to the south of Mare Nectaris, in the southeastern part 's near side. To the west-northwest lies the prominent crater Piccolomini. The northwestern extension of the Vallis Rheita lunar valley passes about a crater diameter to the west of this formation. The rim is roughly circular and somewhat sharp-edged, with some ledges formed along the inner sides. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
