Mouchez (Moon)

Named after Ernest Amedee Barthelemy Mouchez - French astronomer (1821-1892).

Mouchez is the remnant of a lunar crater that is located near the northern limb , to the north of Philolaus and northwest of Anaxagoras. Almost the entire eastern rim of this crater is missing, and the remaining arc is heavily worn and eroded. This surviving rim forms a curving arc that runs from the south clockwise to the north-northeast. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
