Artem'ev (Moon)

Named after Vladimir Andreevich Artem'ev - Soviet rocket scientist (1885-1962).

Artem'ev is a lunar crater on the far side. The rim of this crater has been modified by subsequent impacts in the vicinity, with an inward bulge along the southwest edge and a worn impact lying across the north rim. The satellite crater Artem'ev G is partly overlain by the southeast rim. The crater interior is flat, and marked only by tiny craterlets. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
