Mons Argaeus (Moon)

Named from peak in Asia Minor (now Erciyas Dagi).

Mons Argaeus is a mountainous massif that extends for a length of 65 km towards the southeast. This rise was given the Latin name for Mount Argaeus, a peak in Turkey now called Erciyes Dağı. The name for this lunar feature was officially adopted by the IAU in 1935. (wikipedia entry)

A mons is a mountain. On the Moon they are named after terrestrial mountain ranges, nearby craters, and deceased scientists who have made outstanding or fundamental contributions to their fields.
