McKellar (Moon)

Named after Andrew McKellar - Canadian astronomer (1910-1960).

McKellar is a lunar impact crater , and it cannot be viewed directly from the Earth. It lies to the southwest of the crater Crookes, and the ray system from this impact covers the floor and sides. To the south is the slightly smaller Bok. This crater is somewhat eroded, with a small crater along the northwestern rim. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
