Ludwig (Moon)

Named after Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig - German physiologist (1816-1895).

Ludwig is a small lunar impact crater that is located just beyond the eastern limb , placing it on the far side from the Earth. It lies just to the east of the much larger crater Hirayama, and to the north of Ganskiy. The rim of this crater is worn, and is somewhat lower in the northern half. The inner walls are uneven slopes that lead down to the interior floor. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
