Lucretius (Moon)

Named after Titus Lucretius Carus - Roman scientific philosopher (c. 94-55 B.C.).

Lucretius is an impact crater on the far side. It is located to the southeast of the huge walled plain Hertzsprung, within the outer skirt of ejecta that surrounds that impact feature. To the southwest lies Fridman. This crater is a fresh impact, as the formation is well-defined and the rim and interior remain nearly unscathed from impact erosion. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
