Hermite (Moon)

Named after Charles Hermite - French mathematician (1822-1901).

Hermite is a lunar impact crater located along the northern lunar limb, close to the north pole. It was first discovered in 1964. To the west is the crater Rozhdestvenskiy, and to the south are Lovelace and Sylvester. Grignard is located directly adjacent to the Southwest. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
