Amundsen (Moon)

Named after Roald Engelbregt Gravning Amundsen - Norwegian explorer (1872-1928).

Amundsen lies along the southern lunar limb, and so is viewed from the side by an observer on the Earth. Nobile is attached to the western rim. The rim is slightly distended along the southern edge, and the terraced inner surface is wider at that point than elsewhere along the outer wall. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
