Helicon (Moon)

Named after Helicon - Greek astronomer, mathematician (fl. c. 361 B.C.).

Helicon is a small lunar impact crater on the north part of the Mare Imbrium. Just to the east is the slightly smaller crater Le Verrier. Helicon is a nearly circular formation with inner walls that curve down to a flat floor. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
