Freundlich (Moon)

Named after Erwin (Finlay-) Freundlich - German-British astronomer (1885-1964).

Freundlich is a lunar crater on the far side. This crater has a circular rim that is more heavily eroded at the northern and southern ends. Groups of craters lie across the floor to the southeast and the north, and individual small craters lie elsewhere within the interior. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
