Evershed (Moon)

Named after John Evershed - British astronomer (1864-1956).

Evershed is located to the northeast of the larger crater Cockcroft, and to the north of the smaller Van den Bergh. The satellite crater Evershed R is attached to the outer southwest rim. There are small craters along the southern and southeast rim. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
