Dugan (Moon)

Named after Raymond Smith Dugan - American astronomer (1878-1940).

Dugan is a lunar crater on the northern part 's far side. It lies to the southwest of the large walled plain Schwarzschild, and due north of the crater Compton. This is a heavily worn and eroded crater with an outer wall that forms an irregular ring of peaks and valleys surrounding the featureless interior floor. The crater is now little more than a circular depression in the rugged lunar terrain. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
