Dryden (Moon)

Named after Hugh Latimer Dryden - American physicist, engineer (1898-1965).

Dryden is a lunar impact crater on the southern hemisphere on the far side. To the south along the same range is the crater Chaffee. The perimeter forms a crude circle with an irregular shape due to several small outward bulges. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
