Rachmaninoff (Mercury)

Named after Sergei V. Rachmaninoff - Russian composer, pianist, and conductor (1873-1943).

Rachmaninoff is a peak-ring impact crater on Mercury. The morphology is similar to that of Raditladi, which is one of the youngest impact basins on Mercury. Rachmaninoff appears to be only slightly older. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On Mercury they are named after deceased artists, musicians, painters, and authors who have made outstanding or fundamental contributions to their field and have been recognized as art historically significant figures for more than 50 years.
