Davy (Moon)

Named after Humphry Davy - British physicist (1778-1829).

Davy is a small lunar crater on the eastern edge of the Mare Nubium. It overlies the lava-flooded remains of the satellite crater Davy Y to the east, a formation which contains a crater chain designated Catena Davy. To the southeast is the prominent crater Alphonsus. The outer rim is low, and the interior has been partly resurfaced. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
