Schwabe U (Moon)

Satellite Feature of Schwabe

Named after Samuel Heinrich Schwabe - German astronomer (1789-1875).

Schwabe is a small lunar crater that is located in the northern part. It ies to the southeast of the much larger crater Arnold, and east-northeast of Democritus. The rim of this crater is cut through by a cleft along the northwest that runs westards until it joins the lava-flooded terrain surrounding Schwabe G. To the south is a cleft-like feature that runs from the rim D a distance of nearly 100 km eastwards. The remaining rim crater is worn and uneven, with the most intact section along the east-southeast side. (wikipedia entry)
