Murakami (Moon)

Named after Harutaro Murakami - Japanese physicist, astronomer (1872-1947).

Murakami is an impact crater on the far side. To the south-southeast is the crater Mariotte. Murakami partly overlaps the western rim of the satellite crater Mariotte Z. To the southeast , and to the northeast of Mariotte, is the smaller crater Das. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
