Bluff (Mars)

Named after the Town in New Zealand.

The 1958 Mars Bluff B-47 nuclear weapon loss incident was an inadvertent nuclear weapon release over Mars Bluff, South Carolina during 1958. Six people were injured by the explosion of the bomb's conventional explosive load. The United States Air Force was sued by the family of the victims, who received US$54,000, equivalent to $442,900 in 2016. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On Mars large craters are named after deceased scientists, writers and others who have contributed to the lore of Mars. Small creaters (less than 60km) are named after small towns and villages.
