Beethoven (Mercury)

Named after Ludwig van Beethoven - German composer of Flemish descent (1770-1827).

Beethoven is a crater at latitude 20°S, longitude 124°W on Mercury. Unlike many basins of similar size , Beethoven is not multi-ringed. Remnant ejecta blankets around parts of the Beethoven are subdued in appearance and their margins poorly defined in places. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On Mercury they are named after deceased artists, musicians, painters, and authors who have made outstanding or fundamental contributions to their field and have been recognized as art historically significant figures for more than 50 years.
