Oudemans (Mars)

Named after Jean A. Oudemans - Dutch astronomer (1827-1906).

Oudemans Crater is an example of very pristine morphology since small features in its ejecta and on its floor are preserved. Unlike some craters, Oudemans Crater does not have alluvial fans on its floor. In places, its rim has a terrace. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On Mars large craters are named after deceased scientists, writers and others who have contributed to the lore of Mars. Small creaters (less than 60km) are named after small towns and villages.
