Echus Chasma (Mars)

This feature is named after an earlier feature.

Echus Chasma is a chasma in the Lunae Planum high plateau north of the Valles Marineris canyon system of Mars. Clay has been found within it, meaning that water once sat there for a time. (wikipedia entry)

A chasma is a deep, elongated, steep-sided depression. On Mars they are named after the nearest named albedo feature on the Schiaparelli or Antoniadi maps.
