Satellite Feature of Sommerfeld

Named after Arnold Johannes Wilhelm Sommerfeld - German physicist (1868-1951).

Sommerfeld is a large lunar crater that is located in the far northern latitudes. It lies on the far side, and can only be viewed from orbit. To the south is Rowland, a crater about the same size as Sommerfeld. Southeast is the huge walled plain Birkhoff. (wikipedia entry)
