Sarton (Moon)

Named after George Alfred Leon Sarton - Belgian-American historian of science (1884-1956).

Sarton is a lunar impact crater that lies beyond the northwestern limb , on the far side from the Earth. It is located to the southwest of the crater Coulomb, to the north of the walled plain Landau. Nearly attached to the northwestern rim is the smaller Weber. Although roughly circular, this is a somewhat oddly shaped crater that is slightly elongated to the south. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
