Ra Patera (Io)

Egyptian sun god.

Ra Patera is an extraterrestrial volcano located on Io. When first discovered, the mountain reached about one kilometer in height and featured numerous lava flows of either low viscosity or "high eruption rates". It is possibly a liquid sulfur-erupting volcano. (wikipedia entry)

A patera is an irregular crater, or a complex one with scalloped edges. Usually the dish-shaped depression atop a volcano. On Io they are named after words for fire, sun or thunder; volcano gods, heroes, goddesses or mythical blacksmiths.
