Delisle (Moon)

Named after Joseph Nicolas Delisle - French astronomer (1688-1768).

Delisle is a small lunar crater in the western part of the Mare Imbrium. Between Delisle and Diophantus is a sinuous rille named Rima Diophantus, with a diameter of 150 km. The rim is somewhat polygonal in form and it has a low central rise on the floor. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
