Eastman (Mercury)

Named after Charles A. (Ohiyesa) Eastman - Sioux author (1858-1939).

Eastman is a crater on Mercury first seen by MESSENGER during the mission's first Mercury flyby. Eastman exhibits some features characteristic of a fresh, young crater. The walls have clearly visible terraces, and the central peak structure is well preserved. Eastman is located near Xiao Zhao crater. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On Mercury they are named after deceased artists, musicians, painters, and authors who have made outstanding or fundamental contributions to their field and have been recognized as art historically significant figures for more than 50 years.
