Balandin (Moon)

Named after Aleksey Aleksandrovich Balandin - Soviet chemist (1898-1967).

Balandin is a small crater on the far side. Balandin is circular with a somewhat unusual hummocky interior floor, similar to the nearby Kosberg, to Barbier F within Barbier, or to Van den Bos. It is adjacent to slightly smaller craters to the east and west. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
