Sechenov (Moon)

Named after Ivan Mikhaylovich Sechenov - Russian physiologist (1829-1905).

Sechenov is a lunar impact crater on the far side. It lies to the southwest of the huge walled plain Hertzsprung, and to the east-southeast of the crater Timiryazev. To the south-southeast lies Paschen. This crater has taken a moderate amount of wear and tear as a result of subsequent impacts. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
