Seares (Moon)

Named after Frederick Hanley Seares - American astronomer (1873-1964).

Seares is a lunar impact crater located in the northern part 's far side. It lies to the east-northeast of the walled plain Schwarzschild, and to the west of the prominent crater Karpinskiy. The rim of this old crater is worn and battered by impacts, and now forms an irregular ring of peaks, valleys and ridges about the interior floor. The satellite crater Seares B lies across the northeastern rim. (wikipedia entry)

A crater is a circular depression likely created by an impact event. On the Moon they are named after deceased scientists, polar explorers, astronauts or cosmonauts.
